Google is the number one search engine around the world.  To be recognized when consumers are performing a Google search it is imperative to show up on the first couple of pages.  The graph below from Chitika shows a breakdown of Google traffic per page.  91.5% of all consumers who perform a search on Google do not go below the first page.  Only 4.8% who perform a search will go to the second page.  It drops down to only 1.1% of users that will make it to the third page.  Let's put that in perspective.  That means out of every 100 people who search for your product or service will see your webpage if it is on the third page.  There are likely 1000's of searches done everyday for the product or service you offer.  So lets look at this on a larger scale.  Let's assume there are 10,000 people a day in your area who is searching for your product or service.  If you are on the third page of the google search then that means out of the 10,000 people only 100 will reach the page that even has your website on it.  That is not to say they will even click the link to your website if they do reach this page.  Even you go below the third page you might as well not even have a website.
